BEATING THE WINTER BLUES WITH SEEDLING

We found the cure for the winter blues -- making your own superhero cape! Our kids (Brixton, 3 and Mila, 4) fell in love with these Seedling cape kits.

The kit came with everything our little designers needed: cape, glitter glue, foam stars and felt shapes. We just let these cute cousins go wild, doing they're own painting and gluing.

Post-decorating, they were ready to take flight!

The world already feels like a better place with these two superheroes looking out for us.

Happy January! XOXO

JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH SIP & SEE

Our beautiful friend (and amazing photographer) Jenna Elliott, and her husband Andrew, adopted a baby boy, James. Her girlfriends chose Sunday brunch to host her Sip and See at Jenna’s favorite place — Arlington Garden in Pasadena, California.

We were inspired by Jenna’s only request for the theme — the book James and the Giant Peach (which her best friend’s grandfather wrote). In looking at the James and the Giant Peach artwork, three things stood out: peaches, birds and the ocean. So we used those as the guideposts for the Sip and See decor.

For peaches, we used giant balloons, with green crepe paper leaves (that we cut out free-hand), to give the effect of peaches floating overhead. Dessert carried the theme through with peach donuts and the incredible peach marzipan cake topper by Whisk and Whittle.

Gold birds nested atop the cake stand and candy dishes from Target and little white ceramic birds decorated the place settings. We also incorporated Sugarfina’s Apollo Kumquats to serve as “egg” candies.

For the ocean, we tore pieces of fabric in blue, green and white and then tied them to twine to create the fabric garland runner. West Elm has some incredible agate pieces so we used the coasters on the place settings and bookends to adorn the cake stand.

We also loved the idea of using spheres as a nod to the peach, and to the earth in general, so we incorporated wood and metal spheres throughout the length of the table.

HOLIDAY DRESSING WITH RAINEY'S CLOSET

I'm obsessed with mini style, Nellystella and Tutu Du Monde being two favorites. I've spent way too many nights "researching" dresses for Mila. And then when it came to holiday photos, I felt like she practically needed a new wardrobe. It's stressful enough so it felt like such a relief to have some of the best looks to borrow from Rainey's Closet. I narrowed it down to a couple outfits and wanted to share them with you here.

Wishing you and your little ones a beautiful Christmas! xoxo

CHRISTMAS TREES WITH MR. GREENTREES

Kids really take Christmas to a whole new magical level, don't they?! Mila is 4 and Brixton is 3 so this season has really been the most fun so far. The look of wonder in their eyes is just too much to take sometimes.

We visited the lovely Mr. Greentrees to pick out trees and found two incredible beauties.

They've been busy decorating, as you can see.

Hope you're enjoying a beautiful December surrounded by lots of love!

OLLI ELLA

Sisters! [We may be partial to sisters.] Genius sisters Chloe and Olivia started Olli Ella as a happy accident. After not being able to find a nursing chair to fit the eclectic feel of her first child’s nursery, Chloe Brookman, and her sister Olivia, designed a chair themselves. Since then they've turned the endeavor into a beautiful, modern home decor line, with a focus on the nursery. We especially love their baskets and wanted to share a few of them here with you.

So cute for home or a trip to the farmers' market!
