FEATHER MOBILE DIY

You may have seen our Mommy + Toddler Valentine Party on Style Me Pretty Living earlier this month.  The guests made a feather mobile at our crafting station.  We wanted to take you through the steps here so you can have a fun DIY to do at home!

Here's what you'll need: five feathers, up to five colors of paint, paintbrush, string, natural jute cord, scissors, driftwood branches, paper (to paint feathers on, and then lay feathers out to dry on).

Paint the top third of the feather, on both sides.  Lay out to dry.  Repeat twice (three coats total).

Take a length of string and wrap one side of it twenty times around the bottom section of feather.  Knot it.  Take the other side of the string and wrap it around the center of the driftwood branch ten times.  Knot that end as well.  Repeat with the four other feathers -- two to the left and two to the right -- varying the string length on each.  Be sure to leave room at both ends of the driftwood branch.

Take a length of jute cord and wrap it a few times around the far left side of the driftwood.  Knot it.  Take the other side of the jute and measure it to a length you'd like to hang the finished mobile by.  Wrap the cord around the far right side of the branch a few times.  Knot it.  You're done!

FAVORITE PAJAMAS FOR BOYS + GIRLS

I think we have previously discussed this, but just to reiterate -- I am pajama obsessed. Not only for myself but for Brixton too. And a really stylish, good quality pajama for kids is surprisingly hard to come by! So I thought I'd share some of the fruits of my research labor with you. Here are my favorites for a super cozy night's sleep for your little one(s).

PLAYING DRESS UP WITH WOVENPLAY

Wovenplay is described as "creative couture for the everyday artist and adventurer." I love that. The New York-based company believes in old techniques, hand-crafted textiles and the natural qualities of materials; drawing on the past to create modern, sustainable, beautifully hand-crafted clothing and costumes for little ones. It's obvious that founder and designer Katherine Edmonds applies her background in art, textile design and traditional french dressmaking to every collection.

I view buying a piece from Wovenplay like investing in a piece of art. Here are some current favorites.

A WINTER WEEKEND IN OJAI

Over the holiday break, the boys and I spent a couple of days in Ojai. It really is such a cute and special place. Though it still has the same small-town charm I remembered from my last visit (several years ago), there are some really great new additions to the area. Here's a look inside of our little winter getaway.

We started our trip off with a bang, eating this completely delicious brunch at Knead Baking Company in town. This artisan, family-run bakery serves house-made bagels, super fresh salads, organic eggs and fresh-squeezed OJ. We truly loved it and will definitely be going back.

Knead's cute and quaint setting.

Family portait!

I have officially named deKor & Co. Ojai's best and most stylish one-stop-shop. They have everything from furniture, to clothing, to cosmetics, to homewares, (in addition to a tea bar!) and so much more. I could've stayed and explored the store all afternoon.

The shop exclusively carries cult cosmetic brand Face Stockholm and offers in-store and at-home make-up application and tutorials.

So many gorgeous treasures. Heart eyes all the way.

Walking through the town under its beautiful Spanish archways.

Another major point for Ojai is their health food store (and the fact that they have one!), Rainbow Bridge.

Cute country vibes in Rainbow Bridge.

And here's another major point-score for the town of Ojai - their huge park and playground, Libbey Park. This place was Brixton's dream.

The park comes complete with a turf hill, for all of your box sledding needs!

The park is also home to The Libbey Bowl, a beautiful 973-seat outdoor amphitheater.

We arrived at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa as the sun was going down. It gets pretty chilly there on winter nights, so we were ready for a warm dinner and our cozy room.

These handmade baskets at the entrance of their gift shop caught my eye.

We ate dinner at the resort's Oak Restaurant. I had their "Green & Spicy" signature cocktail with a kick.

Brixton had to make a few calls before bedtime.

Good morning from the golf course.

Brekky was the California Scramble, bacon and berries. All food groups covered! ;)

Their newly renovated (adult only) Indigo Pool.

You sure are beautiful, Ojai! Thanks for the lovely getaway! xx
