MILA'S PEONY PICNIC BIRTHDAY PARTY

It's Mila's birthday week! So I'm reminiscing and looking back. Here's a peek at her 2nd birthday. You may remember it from 100 Layer Cakelet (and as one of their favorite kids birthday parties of 2014). Hopefully, I've included a few here you haven't seen before.

All photos by Jenna Elliott of One Eleven Photography.

I had planned an elaborate balloon overhang, à la Geronimo Balloons, but my helium resource fell through. So I went to plan b by criss-crossing twine amongst the trees and hanging the balloons from there.

These were literally the last batch of coral peonies for the season.

I love this gold twine for the cutlery so much. I hope I can figure out something as good for Mila and Brixton's birthday party this weekend!

SIS'S ALL-TIME FAVORITES

I loved Twink's all-time favorites yesterday! So I've put together some of my own to share with you today.

My goal is to create the softest, coziest, sleepiest bed ever. So incredibly soft sheets from Hudson Park are essential.

I owe it to Twink for showing me the way of the One&Only Palmilla. She honeymooned there and knew I would love it. She was the right, it made for an incredible destination wedding.

I’ve tried other bath robes where you’re just soggy, but the greatest thing about this RH bathrobe is that it actually dries you.

I have the driest skin but I love that this Beautycounter tinted moisturizer make my skin look dewy.

It wouldn't be a Twink + Sis list without kombucha. I am obsessed with Revive -- my current favorite flavor is Spring Fling, although I do love Tropic Wonder too.

My go-to sandal for the summer are these gladdies from FitFlop. So easy and comfortable.

How much do you love things that help organize your kitchen? This utensil holder from Williams-Sonoma has been the perfect fit.

I like my jewelry to be simple, understated and minimal so I love these Alexis Bittar Miss Havisham crystal teardrop earrings.

The most delicious coconut water, Taste Nirvana.

Most weekends I find myself in Montecito. It's just over an hour drive to this glorious beach town so I like to take advantage of our beautiful coast as much as I can.

Wishing you lots of beach time this summer! xoxo

TWINK'S ALL-TIME FAVORTES!

It's June 1st! Since it's our birth month (I'm on the 27th and Sis is on the 25th) we thought we'd go deeper into the Twink + Sis pyche and share some our all-time favorites -- the things we can't live without! So, without further ado, here are mine!

Hats are basically the greatest invention ever. You could have the dirtiest, "overwhelmed mom of a toddler" hair, throw a great fedora on, and you look instantly stylish. I love Rag & Bone's hats -- I have several and wear them constantly.

I have been drinking Bulletproof coffee for about a year and a half now, and I don't think I will ever go back to life without it. I blend grass-fed ghee, Bulletproof Brain Octane & Collagelatin and cinnamon with my hot coffee, in the blender each morning. It's the best way to wake up! I feel energized and nourished. I'm a fat-aholoic!

Vintage rugs make a house. At least they do mine! They bring so much beauty and character! My good friend and designer, Peri Perry introduced me to Lawrence of LaBrea. If you live in the LA area they will bring rugs of your choosing to you, to try in your home! Love that kind of service!

`

I'm all about natural beauty products, particularly when they go over your entire body. I love the smell and feel of Nubian Heritage Coconut Papaya Body Lotion. I use it every day post-shower!

I love taking Brixton for afternoon outings to The Brentwood Country Mart. They have the cutest shops and host movie nights for kids in their courtyard, every Monday night in the summer!

I never knew workout socks had to be anything special until I discovered Balega Hidden Comfort Socks about five years ago. LIFE. CHANGING. Particularly if you do any type of high impact sport like running or dance.

A really good citrus juicer has improved my hosting abilities tremendously. I can make lemonade or fresh squeezed orange juice so quickly. We are sticklers for fresh drinks and make our own lemonade for a lot of our parties. The Breville Citrus Press Pro makes my hosting life so much easier.

This BLK DNM leather jacket is a wardrobe staple and it's under $1K. I wear it with everything. Enough said.

If you had x-ray vision into my body, you would probably find a sea of GT Dave's Gingerade Kombucha. I've had at least one a day (if not a few. hehe) for about 7 years. Life just doesn't feel complete without it!

John Robshaw is the OG of high-end, exotic textiles and I'm a huge fan of his beautiful pillows and super soft blankets. I have this hand-stitched coverlet on my bed. It's dreamy.

A really good day (or bad one) ends with Justin's Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups. I believe they taste particularly amazing chilled, so I always keep my stash in the fridge.

Jason gave this Jennifer Meyer initial pendant to me (in a "b") after I had Brixton. It's so dainty and beautiful, and reminds me of the greatest gift ever!!! I never take it off.

Happy June!!! Just so happens to be my favorite month! ;)

xoxoxo!!

THE TWINK + SIS MARGARITA

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Last year we made a delish Blood Orange, Basil & Jalapeño Margarita for National Margarita Day! We thought we'd share it again today in case you were so inclined to celebrate with this organic cocktail that packs a major punch! xx

This Sunday is not only The Academy Awards, but it's National Margarita Day! Now that we are pro-mixologists (see yesterday's post), we concocted the most delicious (if I do say so myself) margarita for you to enjoy on this special holiday.  And it's the perfect drink to serve your guests while watching The Oscars. I used pure, organic silver tequila with fresh squeezed lime juice, muddled basil and jalapeño and made my own blood orange simple syrup. Here's how it's done -

For ONE serving you will need:

2 oz. Silver Tequila (I am really digging IXÁ, an organic, small batch tequila)

1 oz. Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice

1 oz. Blood Orange Simple Syrup (recipe below)

3 - 5 Basil Leaves

2 Thin Jalapeño Slices

Ice

___

First, make the simple syrup. If you don't own an electric citrus juicer I highly recommend this one from Breville. I love it.

Blood Orange Simple Syrup Ingredients:

3/4 Cup Fresh Blood Orange Juice (about 8 blood oranges), strained through a sieve

3/4 Cup Organic Sugar

1-1/2 Cups Water

Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan over medium-low heat, stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved. Allow to cool. Store in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 weeks.

__

To make the drink:

Muddle jalapeño and basil until fairly broken down.

Add tequila, lime juice and blood orange simple syrup. Add several ice cubes and shake vigorously for about a minute.

Pour the liquid through the strainer over ice. If you like my large spherical ice cubes, you can get the molds at Williams-Sonoma.

Cheers to the greatest National Margarita Day ever!!
