We had so much fun at The ShopUp! Set at the beautiful Lombardi House, Babyccino Kids and Pop Productions put together a lovely event (with their incredible eye for detail) and gave our kids just what we would have wished for on a pretty Sunday afternoon. Including a little lounge time in the adorable Kalon Studios toddler bed (above).

Mila made a botanical card with Makers Mess.

And Brixton turned on the charm in the Red Anchor photo booth.

We can't wait for next year!

RAIN AND SNOW BOOTS FOR KIDS

It's raining in LA. Yay! So we're all strapping on our rain boots (the once-a-year ritual). And we're hoping to head to the snow in our local mountains soon too, so that means snow boots. Here are some favorites. The great thing about buying late in the season is some of the styles are on sale (though there are the classics that never go on sale, sigh... but that's why they're classics). I'm obsessed with white and neutral but tried to get some color in there too!

PADARO BEACH IN CARPINTERIA

Our love for the coast took us to Padaro Beach in Carpinteria. This rustic beach is located just north of the famous Rincon Beach (one of the best surfing spots in the world). It's a local favorite with street parking and a short walk over the train tracks.

Just down the road, Santa Claus Lane has a small row of restaurants and shopping. The Garden Market has lovely outdoor seating -- perfect for sipping wine over a game of cards.

Padaro Beach Grill has a beautiful view of the ocean, a sandbox for the kids to play in and a big lawn to lounge on.

SILVERLAKE'S YOLK SHOP

Yolk is an independent design store in Los Angeles' Silverlake neighborhood with a beautiful collection of home decor, accessories, gifts, toys and kids' fashion.

The owner, CY, is lovely and has such great taste.

I'm crazy for these wooden toys from Japanese company, Kiko. And they had just gotten a big shipment of Janod the day we were there, so we scored a Picnic Hamper and Safari Story Box.

They always have some great Mini Rodini pieces on hand.

Yolk is open 7 days a week and located at 1626 Silver Lake Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90026.

TOLUCA LAKE'S OLIVE & THYME

I'd like to personally thank Melina Davies for bringing Olive & Thyme to Toluca Lake. She and Alex Eusebio of Sweetsalt are certainly responsible for establishing the neighborhood's food scene.

Walking into Olive & Thyme, you're enveloped in eye candy, with lots of little details: from the flowers (peonies on every table) to the vintage farm animals sweetly placed in each nook.

The gourmet restaurant and marketplace serves breakfast, lunch and dinner but my favorite is lunch. Their Cobb salad with spicy Russian dressing is a go-to.

The case is always filled with vibrant salads and sides, as well as incredible cheeses and charcuterie.

The space is quite large and lends itself well to pursuing the marketplace filled with sweets, cookbooks and home decor treats. Our fave, Hedley & Bennett, is represented with mini aprons.
